Who are we?
Voice of Jagannathpur is being established as a non-political community-based organization:
- Promote and encourage timely and necessary development to improve welfare and also support the well-being of the people of Jagannathpur Upazila in cooperation with local, regional, and national Bangladeshi authorities.
- To maintain unity, fraternity, and brotherhood among the conscious citizens of 8 union parishads and Jagannathpur Pouroshova.
- Aim to connect and engage members of the group and the people of Jagannathpur at home and abroad.
Why Do We Exist
“Immigration and Migration process has been constant and steady in Jagannathpur Upazila for two centuries. “
There are the peoples who are migrating from villages to towns to cities to overseas, especially to
the United Kingdom (London, Birmingham, Manchester, Oldham, Scunthorpe, Leeds, etc.).
But, there are some Bangladeshi people from other parts of the country, especially from Comilla,
Noakheli, Barishal, Faridpur, and Mymensingh, who are filling up the vacuum created by the
relocation of the native people. This phase is understood as two-way traffic and happened for employment and economic reasons. Two categories are being created for better understanding as per the trusted information. In the first category, A large section of the educated mass and elite alike exits who migrated to Sunamganj municipality. In the second category, there is a specific type of well-heeled mass and elite, from the immigrant community. They also purchased second homes in the city of Sylhet and relocated to the city and abroad. This whole phenomenon is happening for a long time and Jagannathpur Upazila in Sylhet has the highest nos. of expatriates in the UK. This made a large shift in the demographics and statics of Jagannathpur. “This way we work to identify specific issues and difficulties that exist back home locally and their impact on the life of people of Jagannathpur Upazila.”
